Now accepting new clients!
I specialize in OCD and anxiety as well as trauma. These areas have been a huge part of my life and areas in which I have experience and expertise in. Trauma is often a precursor to many of these issues, so I also take special care and training in delivering not only trauma informed care, but I often treat trauma in tandem with client's anxiety, or alone. However, people who have experienced trauma often experience the world in a similar way to people who have OCD or anxiety. My goal is to help your brain learn that it is safe, and you are much stronger than you may think.
I have extensive training in OCD and anxiety and this area of mental health has had a significant impact on my own life. My lived experience and my ongoing research and education help me to effectively treat and understand people who suffer from these two crippling issues. OCD can be one of the hardest and most isolating mental health issues people face. Many of my clients have spent years trying to cope with their anxiety all while keeping it a secret from everyone around them. There are many subtypes of OCD - many of which you may not know about. If you experience anxiety that is repetitive in nature, it is worth visiting the IOCDF website to understand if what you're dealing with is OCD or anxiety. If this is you, I can help. If you're not sure, let me help you figure it out.
I also have extensive experience with neurodiverse folks. Sometimes ADHD is a symptom of trauma as ADHD and trauma often go hand in hand. However, it doesn't have to! People who are neurodiverse often experience the world different to the neurotypical and experience their own sets of challenges and strengths. I can help you navigate these complex issues as well.
Sometimes these issues work alone, often times they work together. Any issue you bring is faced with an open heart, an open mind, and an approach where you lead. My goal in therapy is to help you reach your goals and feel better in life. I want you to feel empowered and whole and this includes understanding the various parts of yourself so that we can help you through the difficult times you may face.
As an educator for 15 years I also bring a wealth of knowledge about young adults and navigating the teenage years. I have experience with at-risk youth, neurodiverse youth and adults, as well as youth with learning disabilities. This work carries over to other young people navigating these difficult times.. These years can bring lots of changes, questioning identity and pathways, and challenges in relationships. Becoming an adult can be a difficult and trying time in a person's life and I'm here to help you find your way in a world that can be hard to navigate.
Being a woman also comes with its own set of challenges. As a woman, and mother, I understand that being a woman can come with many unique challenges. Being a new mother was something I also struggled with. The transition to motherhood can be a difficult one and it can help to have someone to talk to who will not judge you and will understand what you are going through. It can be hard to reach out, but know that you don't have to be alone in this journey!
Most importantly. I do not force a treatment modality on my clients, although there are some modalities I find that help my clients the best. These are cognitive behavioural therapy (such as ERP), mindfulness and internal family systems. Acceptance and commitment therapy is also a big part of my practice. I also take a person-centred approach and am trauma informed. Most importantly, I listen to the client first to understand their needs before suggesting a treatment or technique. I never want my clients to feel uncomfortable.
Let me help you trust yourself, find your true self, and guide you through your path of self-discovery and healing. You have it within you to heal and I am here to help you find the strength you already have inside you to overcome the challenges you face.

Sometimes the road is long and rocky, but if you keep doing the work you will get there.
